Vathiavali Beach

A gorgeous, quiet beach on the mainland coast directly across from Nikiana, with strikingly clear turquoise water and good snorkelling. From Lefkada the easy way over is the little Vathiavali boat transfer that runs daily from the small beach by Nikiana harbour. It is lightly organised: a canteen for food and drinks, a few sunbeds and umbrellas, basic showers and toilets. Come earlier in peak season as it fills up. Pack water shoes and, for the fish, a bit of bread.
