Lefkada Town & the Faneromeni Balcony
The capital's lanes and waterfront, the lagoon windmills, and a monastery terrace over the whole bay.
Lefkada Town is made for wandering: the kantounia lanes, the lively waterfront, the medieval Agia Mavra castle guarding the entrance to the lagoon, and the small museums (archaeological and folklore) for a quieter hour. Up above, the Faneromeni monastery is the town's balcony, with a sweeping view over the lagoon. Around the edges you have flat, easy town beaches (Agios Ioannis, Krioneri, the sandbars) and great tavernas. Pick a mix of culture and sea, at your own pace.
