Nikiana & Lygia
Quiet east coast between the town and Nidri: calm shallow water, great for families and budgets.
Lygia and Nikiana are two neighbouring villages on the east coast, between Lefkada Town and Nidri, ideal if you want calm without feeling cut off. The sea here is sheltered, calm and shallow, perfect conditions for travelling with children. Lygia keeps its fishing village character, with fairly priced fish tavernas, and is the cheaper option; Nikiana is a practical family base, close to the main road and reachable by bus, so you can even skip the car hire. The whole area is minutes from the town and airport, and a quarter of an hour from Nidri for boat trips.
