Rent a no-licence boat and explore at your own pace. The rental gives you a permitted zone to respect: no west coast, but the area on the island side is wonderful, full of coves, with calm water sheltered by the surrounding islands (Meganisi, Skorpios, Sparti, Madouri) and little harbours to dock among tavernas. Fine for beginners too, just follow the operator's advice.
