Boat Trips from Nidri
Daily boat excursions leave from Nidri toward the Ionian islands and bays you can only reach by sea. Depending on the trip they take in Meganisi with the Papanikolis cave, Skorpios island and tiny Madouri, the quiet villages of Kalamos and Kastos, and on longer runs Fiskardo on Kefalonia and Ithaca. Most include swim stops in secluded coves and some free time in a seaside village. It is the easiest way to discover the islets around Lefkada in a single day. Excursions run from mid-May to late September.

Agios Petros
One of Lefkada's oldest villages, quiet and authentic, a couple of kilometres from Vasiliki. From here you quickly reach the finest south-west beaches (Egremni and Porto Katsiki are close by). Local tavernas with old-time flavours and the odd evening of live music.

Bio Olive Factory Sklavenitis
A small spot to discover the authentic side of Lefkada: olive growing, extra-virgin olive oil and local products to taste and take home. Pairs well with a tour of the south of the island or a day between villages and beaches. 📍 Near Kontarena, on the western side of the island. 👉 Check opening times on site: small producers follow seasonal rhythms.

Cape Lefkata Lighthouse
Lefkada's south-west tip, where legend says the poet Sappho threw herself from the cliff for love. The road is long and winding and from afar seems never to end, but it's easier than it looks, and once there the white cliff plunging into the open sea repays the petrol and the time. A short, striking stop, perfect on the way back from the south-west beaches, especially towards sunset.

Club Vass · Windsurf
One of the best-known windsurf centres internationally, in Vasiliki bay — famous for its afternoon thermal wind. Ideal for lessons, equipment hire or simply soaking up the sporty vibe of a legendary windsurf spot. Activities, courses and availability vary with the season and weather.

Dream Paragliding · Kathisma
Paragliding activity in the Kathisma area, one of the island's most scenic spots for flying over the west coast. Great for anyone after a panoramic, adrenaline-filled experience with views over sea and cliffs. Flights, times and availability depend on wind, weather and the daily schedule: best to call ahead.

Faneromeni Monastery
A monastery-museum worth visiting for several reasons: free entry, a terrace with a stunning view over the beaches and lagoon of Lefkada, an inner garden with animals (parakeets, fallow deer, tortoises), a museum of religious artefacts and even a naval museum with historic models and costumes. The church is beautiful and richly decorated. Close to town, it's an easy stop that suits everyone.

Karia Folklore Museum
A small but meaningful visit to understand the traditional life of Lefkada's mountain villages: tools, costumes, embroidery and everyday objects from the past. Worth a stop if you're passing through Karia or want to alternate sea and local culture. 📍 In Karia village, in the hilly inland. 👉 Right in the heart of the village — pair it with a stroll through the square and a tavern lunch.

Lefkaditiki Gi Winery
On the road between Nydri and Vasiliki, this winery gem was featured in an Italian RAI TV report a few years ago. The visit includes a wine tasting and a guided cellar tour. Booking required.

LEFKAS Diving Center
Diving centre on the east coast of Lefkada, handy for arranging dives, guided snorkelling or other sea activities. A good base for discovering a different side of the island, beyond the beaches. Trips, courses and availability vary with the season and sea conditions.

Monastery of Agios Nikolaos Iras
A small, peaceful nuns' monastery in the far south of the island, on the road out to Cape Lefkata (Cape Doukato) and its lighthouse. Run by a tiny community of nuns, it has a quiet little church with lovely religious art, sweeping views over the southern coast and a small shop selling their handmade jams, herbs and syrups. A worthwhile, slightly surreal stop if you are heading down to the cape. Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered); photography inside the church is not allowed. 🕐 Indicative: daily about 10:00 AM-3:00 PM and 5:00-7:30 PM (Sat/Sun mornings open earlier). Always seasonal.

Nautilus Diving Club · Vasiliki
Diving centre in Vasiliki, a good base for exploring the seabed of southern Lefkada with dives and guided trips. Suitable both for experienced divers and for those trying diving for the first time. Programmes, prices and trips depend on season, sea conditions and availability: best to check first.

Nydri Waterfalls
Not just sea on Lefkada: the Dimosari waterfalls, above Nidri towards Rachi (the Vafkeri area), are the right spot for a break of cool air and nature. You drive up to a small car park, then a short walk into the gorge leads to the pools; at the top there's a well-stocked little bar and a playground for children. Bring good shoes and, for the braver, a swimsuit for the cold water. Being rain-fed, they're stunning in June, acceptable in July and rather dry in August.

Profitis Ilias Church
A small church on a rise with a view sweeping over the bay of Vlicho and Nidri and the islets opposite. A short, panoramic stop, easy to pair with a day in the Nidri area.

Siflogo Winery
A small family-run winery in Platistoma, led by Vasilis and his family, where the tasting takes place in an atmospheric cellar amid stories about the wine's history and how it's made. You try several local labels with real passion and expertise. Booking required (closed on Sundays).

Sivota
A pretty fishing village set on a deep, sheltered bay, hidden from the road above. Evenings are special: you stroll the little harbour among moored yachts and plenty of fish tavernas, with an intimate atmosphere. There is a small beach too and boats to rent. Parking is the one snag, so arrive in good time.

Spartochori (Meganisi)
The largest village on Meganisi, perched above the little harbour of Spilia, with narrow lanes where two people barely pass and a terrace-square looking out over the blue of the sea. Its name means village of the broom flower. You explore it on foot, and it offers views and quiet, perfect for a stroll and a taverna stop.

The Baron Lefkada Horse Riding
Horse-riding trips and experiences in Lefkada — a nice alternative to the beaches, great for families and couples looking for an outdoor activity. Booking ahead is recommended. Prices, hours, routes and availability may vary by season: best to check directly with the provider.

Vass Beach House · Vasiliki
A friendly wing foil base on Vasiliki bay, run by Max and Pip and focused on wingfoiling: lessons for all levels, top, well-kept gear to rent and a smart little shop. They also carry some windsurf bits, and know the local foil spots and how the famous afternoon thermal wind behaves. A relaxed, personal alternative to the bigger centres on the bay. Activities, lessons and availability vary with the season and the wind.

Vathi (Meganisi)
Meganisi's main port, a pretty village gathered around a deep, sheltered bay, with seafront tavernas, a few mini-markets and moored boats. It's where the ferry from Nidri arrives and a calm base for getting around the island. The mood is quiet and the food local, though prices run a little higher because everything comes in by sea.
